Main Features
Data Compilation
Data can be loaded into SiteFX using data entry forms, data loaders or even added directly to the database for experienced users. Data commonly stored in SiteFX includes:
| Boreholes (nested, multilevel) |
Test wells, test pits |
Private domestic wells |
| Municipal wells |
Climate stations |
Stream gauging stations |
| Geological sequence |
Well construction details |
Water levels |
| Water quality |
Climate data |
Stream flow data |
Time-Based Data
Time-based data - such as chemistry, water levels, flow rates etc. - can be entered into SiteFX either through data entry or data loaders. Validation tools and reference libraries are used to associate data with the correct locations and map parameter names and units to a consistent set for reporting and analysis.
Interpretation and Reporting
SiteFX includes an easy-to-use query builder, data-screening tools, hydrographs, water-quality trend graphing, and reporting in a variety of formats.
Data Loggers
A dedicated loader for logger files allows for calibration data to be incorporated into the loaded data. SiteFX supports a number of logger file formats and includes a file test tool to check for compatibilty. Additional formats and can be added upon request.
Water-Quality Criteria
For reporting, users can add and manage their own list of criteria to be shown on reports and used to check for exceedances above guidelines.
Water Levels
SiteFX understands the concept of water levels and can handle the conversion of 'depth to water' to elevation. Because reference elevations can change over time, they can be assigned a start and end date so that the proper reference is used in calculations.
Sampling Programs
Scheduling
Users can define a groundwater sampling program, lab analysis "packages", and produce sample request, work order and tracking reports.
Sample Management
SiteFX includes field-data entry forms, (hard copy and electronic) chain of custody reports, and printing of bottle labels. Many laboratories can accept the electronic chain of custody forms to further reduce transcription errors.
Reconciliation
Sample programs managed with the SiteFX sample program management tools can take advantage of the auto reconciliation tools which auto compare results expected versus results received.
Web Data Centre Ready
Coordinate with your lab to upload results directly to your website power by the EarthFX Web Data Centre. No more emailing results and delays in reviewing the contents. Results that are uploaded to the website are immediately reconciled with your chain of custodies and screened for criteria exceedances.
Database Driven
Database Connected and OPEN
SiteFX typically connects to a Microsoft ACCESS database where all data is stored. Users can manage several sites within one database or have as many separate databases as they like. Data within the database is stored in relational tables following standard database storage theory.
The database is non-proprietary, which means you free to work directly with the data directly in the database at anytime. Should you ever need to stop using SiteFX, your data is always still accessible.
Original Units Never Lost
When organizing data from different sources and different periods of time, the units of your data are bound to change (water levels, chemsitry, flow rates, geology, borehole construction etc.). SiteFX stores your data in the same units as the original source and also in a consistent set of units of your choosing for reporting and analysis.
Parameter Names and Aliases
When dealing with chemistry data in particular, chemical names can have a variety of spellings. SiteFX can store parameter names and aliases names so that analysis and reporting are easy. When loading new data, SiteFX contains many tools to assist in dealing with parameter names that are new to the database.
Reference Libraries
Reference libraries include lists such as location types, parameter names, unit conversions, etc. All reference lists (lookup tables) can be managed by the user.
Hardware Requirements
SiteFX requires MS-ACCESS 2000 or newer to be pre-installed prior to use.
All Windows service packs AND ACCESS service packs are strongly recommended to be applied (this can be done before or after SiteFX is installed).
The speed of the processor and amount of RAM required are largely dependent upon the amount of data that will be stored in the database. Some general database sizes:
| Empty database |
5 MB |
| Contaminated Site |
20MB - 100MB |
| Watershed |
100MB - 500MB |
If you plan to place your database on a network, the recommended network speed is 100 Base T.
